James Saba BIO

James Saba joined San Diego Junior Theatre as Executive Director in September of 2013 and is also a proud alumnus. James spent 20 seasons at Hope Summer Repertory Theatre (HSRT) in Holland, Michigan, where he was Artistic Director of HSRT’s Children’s Stage. As a freelance director, he has worked at Webster University, Diversionary Theatre, Lamb’s Players Theatre, and was Craig Noel’s assistant on four productions at the Old Globe Theatre. At Junior Theatre he directed The Burnt Part Boys, It’s a Bird…It’s a Plane…It’s Superman, Goodnight Moon, and Akeelah and the Bee. James is of Lebanese descent, and spent three years as part of the acting company of Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner that played Actors Theatre of Louisville, Arizona Theatre Company, and Cleveland Playhouse. James is the current the Vice President of the San Diego Performing Arts League.

WAKE UP, BROTHER BEAR Returns to Junior Theatre By Popular Demand


Wake Up, Brother Bear! gives toddlers the opportunity to explore theatre in a hands-on, experiential way. San Diego Junior Theatre's encore performances (previously sold out last November) will take place on Saturday, March 14th and Sunday, March 15th with performances at 10am and 12pm at the Casa del Prado Theatre. The Annual Awards Luncheon recognizes outstanding contributions and milestone accomplishments by Balboa Park volunteers and institutions. Star Awards Honorees Announced By San Diego Performing Arts League For 25th Star Awards!


The San Diego Performing Arts League is pleased to announce that 41 volunteers from 31 local performing arts organizations have been selected to be honored this year at the 25th Star Awards on Saturday, February 2, 2019. The Star Awards honors volunteers of San Diego County performing arts organizations, and recognizes the indispensable role that volunteers play in the arts community. Each organization selects its own special volunteer to be recognized. These honored volunteers have donated countless hours to music, theater, dance and other cultural institutions in San Diego County.

MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT Comes to Cygnet


Billed as 'lovingly ripped off from the classic comedy film Monty Python and the Holy Grail', SPAMALOT kicks off Cygnet Theatre's sixteenth season. With book and lyrics by Monty Python actor Eric Idle, music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, directed by Sean Murray with musical direction by Terry O'Donnell and choreography by Katie Banville, the production runs June 27 through August 5. Opening Night for media is June 30.
