Intiman Theatre has announced the production line-up for 2021-22 and launch the new Inti-Club Membership program! This will be the company’s first year as the professional theatre-in-residence at Seattle Central College. Intiman will celebrate the move to Capitol Hill and the return of the live arts after COVID with three joyous productions that explore themes of home.

Intiman Online will present a reading of UNDER BIG PINEY Thursday, June 24th to benefit the Southern Poverty Law Center. Written by John Jiler and developed over the past year by the Actors Studio and with director Leah Gardiner, this online reading will be performed by an array of award-winning actors including Tim Blake Nelson and Gloria Reuben.

STARFISH Project, one of Intiman Theatre’s arts education programs, is reaching the culmination of its’ sixth iteration. The high school students involved are pleased to invite the public to view their work, created remotely during COVID during the 2020-21 school year.

Intiman Theatre is thrilled to unveil the talent lineup for its fourth and final #SharetheLove event: Campaign Wrap Party! This event will be broadcast LIVE online, and will celebrate the culmination of an 18 day fundraising campaign in support of their upcoming move to Capitol Hill, and sharing love with community partners in the process.

Effective immediately, Sound Theatre Company has appointed Shermona Mitchell and Andrea Kovich as Board President and Vice President, respectively. Also recently instated is Rebecca Alhadeff as Secretary.

The undergraduate theatre training programs from three Seattle institutions, Cornish College of the Arts, Seattle University, and the University of Washington, present Uncharted Waters, a virtual tri-production of two plays: William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, and a new devised work responding to the themes of Twelfth Night.

Seasoned nonprofit executive and trusted advisor to nonprofit boards, Amy Zimerman, has joined Intiman Theatre as the new Managing Director. She will lead the organization alongside Artistic Director, Jennifer Zeyl, and Board Chair, Jasmine Mahmoud.  

Steep Theatre will welcome several new members to its ensemble of artists. Laura Alcalá Baker, Debo Balogun, Chris Chmelik, Destini Huston, Omer Abbas Salem, and Joe Schermoly are Steep’s newest Ensemble Members. All six of these artists have played pivotal roles in Steep’s artistic development over the past several years, and the company is honored to have them involved in shaping the organization’s future.

Ahead of its 2021 season, Sound Theatre looks to the future with new executive-level leadership. They have named Jay O' Leary-Woods as Co-Artistic Director, effective immediately. She will lead alongside founding Artistic Director Teresa Thuman. 

Artistic Director Marya Sea Kaminski and Managing Director Lou Castelli, along with Pittsburgh Public Theater's Board of Trustees, are committed to using the current pause in in-person programming in the wake of Covid-19 as an opportunity to imagine and secure a bright artistic future for the organization.

Intiman Theatre and Seattle Central College have formed a partnership that will offer a new associate degree program emphasis in Technical Theatre for Social Justice, as well as a residency for the Tony-award winning theatre, providing a home for Intiman's professional productions at Broadway Performance Hall and The Erickson Theatre Off-Broadway.

Pork Filled Productions has set directors and dates for its third Unleashed festival, a celebration of new plays by POC playwrights. These scripts push past the bounds of conventional theatre to tell exciting new BIPOC-led stories in genres like horror, science fiction, fantasy and beyond.

The Intiman Emerging Artist Program: Alumni Edition (IEAP) cohort will share a fully digital, interactive presentation of Sojourn Theatre's The Race 2020 with audiences this fall.
