The SDMT "FOOTLOOSE" cast was honored to meet with Dean Pitchford, Writer of the Original Screenplay and Lyricist, to hear a number of wonderful stories about the making of the 1984 movie, the stage production and the 2011 remake of the movie.

The cast eagerly asked questions about their roles in the SDMT production of "FOOTLOOSE"" which will play one preview at the Birch North Park Theatre on September 28 with an official opening on September 29 and continuing through October 14. Mr. Pitchford gave invaluable insights. It is rare for a cast to be able to discuss the material firsthand with the writer of the show. It was such a gift for The cast and they were truly grateful for the time he shared with them.

One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. This heartfelt story is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. To the rockin' rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score (the soundtrack album reached number one on the Billboard charts and has sold over 15 million copies!) and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, FOOTLOOSE celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind. FOOTLOOSE received 4 Broadway Tony nominations for Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, Best Choreography and Best Performance by a Leading Actress.
