Broadway/San Diego - A Nederlander Presentation announces its 2012-13 Season today, which includes, for the first time, two shows launching their national tours in San Diego in the same season.

Nederlander Vice President Joe Kobryner stated “As we continue to celebrate bringing the Best of Broadway to San Diego for 35 years, we are thrilled to launch the new national tours of CHICAGO, starring Christie Brinkley, and JEKYLL & HYDE, starring Constantine Maroulis.” It’s a testament to our city and our fans that we have this unprecedented opportunity,” he added.

In addition, George Hamilton and Cathy Rigby will be returning to the Civic stage, as well as musical productions by pop music ‘royalty’ composers and song writers such as Green Day, Elton John, and the Beatles; all as part of a full spectrum of Broadway’s all-time biggest hits.

The 2012-13 season includes: the Tony Award ® -winning revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, starring George Hamilton; the dark and dangerous love story, JEKYLL & HYDE, starring Constantine Maroulis; all the fights, flights and acrobatics of PETER PAN, starring Cathy Rigby; the electrifying and inspiring, BILLY ELLIOT with music by Elton John; the groundbreaking rock opera based on the Green Day album, AMERICAN IDIOT; and the soul-stirring musical comedy based on the motion picture, SISTER ACT - all under one roof at the San Diego Civic Theatre. Extra season events include: the ‘razzle dazzle’ of CHICAGO, starring Christie Brinkley; the 25 th Anniversary tour of LES MISÉRABLES; and back by popular demand, the return of the unforgettable Beatles experience – RAIN – A TRIBUTE TO THE BEATLES. “Broadway/San Diego has been a proud community partner for the past 35 years. This season is an opportunity to recommit our efforts to further enhancing the theatrical experience for audiences and contributing to cultural offerings of the community,” commented Carl Thompson, Director of Marketing and Business Development.
