The Colony Theatre Company is thrilled to announce its 35th Anniversary Season of shows! In this, its ninth year in its beautiful home in Burbank, the multi-Ovation Award-winning theatre company will be taking its subscribers and audiences on five extraordinary journeys beginning with two boys who dream of becoming classical pianists to two men -- one twenty, one eighty -- forced together against their will; from a new play exploring President Abraham Lincoln's humanity to a musical revue that explores Jacques Brel's musical genius and then there's also a cross-dressing sexy romp thrown in for good measure! Five amazing theatrical experiences; one extraordinary season!

The 2009/2010 Colony Theatre Company Season:
"2 Pianos 4 Hands chronicles the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, but more essentially,
it resonates with anyone who's ever had a dream." -- LA Times
2 PIANOS 4 HANDS
by Ted Dykstra and Richard Greenblatt
June 20 - July 26, 2009 (Previews June 17 - 19)
Two guys. Two pianos. One dream. As kids, Ted and Richard don't have much in common - except for the shared desire to become classical pianists. But does either of them really have what it takes? 2 Pianos 4 Hands is a play with music that follows the dynamic and comical true journey of these boys into adulthood, their musical aspirations gleaming like the grand pianos that they play masterfully from start to finish. It's a major comedy in a minor key, with tunes ranging from Chopin to Chopsticks.

"It is doubtful you are likely to encounter a play more enjoyable, more honestly funny, and in the end, more moving." -- The Johannesburg Citizen
VISITING Mr. Green
by Jeff Baron
August 29 - September 27, 2009 (Previews August 26 - 28)
One is in his 80s, the other is in his 20s -- two men who are forced together against their will. Visiting Mr. Green is the internationally-acclaimed story about parents and children, lifelong secrets, and finding friendship in unlikely places. This bittersweet comedy shows that wisdom and folly come at any age, and that sometimes, the unexpected visitors are the ones we need the most.

WEST COAST PREMIERE!
"The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."
-- Abraham Lincoln, First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1861
BETTER ANGELS
by Wayne Peter Liebman
October 24 - November 22, 2009 (Previews October 21-23)
Commemorating the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth, this is the true story of our 16th president that's never been told. During a crucial point in our nation's history, President Lincoln is visited by a gracious, courageous woman who asks him for help. It's more than a meeting of the minds -- it's a captivating connection, full of promise, that surprises them both. Based on historic records and found text, Better Angels explores the humanity of one of our greatest leaders -- with a glimpse into his soul.

WEST COAST PREMIERE!
"Celadine follows the timeless structure of Restoration comedy, and if Hollywood were still making those fanciful Technicolor swashbuckling frolics, it would be a dandy entry for a Saturday matinee at the movies." -- Variety
CELADINE
by Charles Evered
February 6 - March 7, 2010 (Previews February 3-5)
A free-spirited, rollicking romp involving a king in disguise, a mischievous maidservant, a tailor who can't speak, and a mysterious actor who may be more dangerous than he seems. Celadine, a fiercely intelligent woman ahead of her time, gets caught up in an uproarious story of espionage, mistaken identity, and political intrigue in 17th century London. This bawdy, sexy comedy comes complete with spying, swordfighting -- and cross-dressing.

"Brel's spirit lives on in this energetic revival, which rivals most of what you'll hear on a Broadway stage." -- Entertainment Weekly
Jacques Brel IS ALIVE
AND WELL
AND LIVING IN PARIS
Conception, lyrics, & additional material by Eric Blau & Mort Shuman
Based on lyrics & commentary by Jacques Brel
Music by Jacques Brel
April 10 - May 9, 2010 (Previews April 7 - 9)
In 2006, this forgotten treasure of musical theatre was rediscovered in New York, and now it returns triumphantly to Los Angeles where it hasn't been seen in years. The genius of Jacques Brel is beautifully captured in this brilliant collection of timeless songs -- songs of passionate desire and heartbreak, of youthful exuberance and world-weariness, of joyful hope and forgotten dreams. As fresh and poignant as ever, Jacques Brel reflects the full scope of what it means to be alive, where every song is a story.
